NLNG’s education initiatives are designed to foster academic excellence, technical skills, and innovation, aligning with Sustainable Development Goal 4.
Through scholarships, vocational training, and science programmes, we are empowering individuals and communities to drive sustainable development.

Scholarship Schemes

NLNG offers four key scholarship programs to support students at various educational levels:

Post-Primary Scholarship:

Since 2012, this scheme has supported 516 high-performing pupils from host communities, investing N2.6 billion to ensure access to quality secondary education.

Internally Displaced Persons (IDP) Scholarship

Launched to support students affected by insurgency in Northeast Nigeria, this initiative has awarded scholarships to 25 beneficiaries from Adamawa, Borno, and Yobe states.

Undergraduate Scholarship

Established in 1998, this program has benefited 3,908 students nationwide, with N839.85 million invested to date. It was expanded in 2018 to support 300 students annually.

Overseas Postgraduate Scholarship

Since 2012, 102 beneficiaries have pursued master’s degrees in the UK in fields like renewable energy, engineering, and environmental sciences, with N3.197 billion invested.

NLNG Science Quiz

The NLNG Science Quiz Competition encourages young minds to explore science and technology, fostering innovation and problem-solving skills. Over N10 million is awarded to students, teachers, and schools, promoting healthy competition and academic excellence.
Over 228 public schools across Rivers State participate annually, with themes like “Net Zero Science” highlighting climate change and sustainability.

Bonny Vocational Centre (BVC)

Established in 2004, the Bonny Vocational Centre (BVC) provides technical and vocational training to empower individuals with employable skills.
BVC offers certifications in engineering, construction, IT, hospitality, and more, accredited by institutions like the City & Guilds of London Institute.
Over 920 graduates have been trained, with 78% employed in multinational corporations, oil and gas companies, and public sectors.
