MANAGING DIRECTOR/CEO
Philip Mshelbila is currently the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of NLNG and the Vice President of Bonny Gas Transport Limited. Prior to this, he was the CEO of the Atlantic LNG Company of Trinidad & Tobago. Preceding this position, he held the position of General Manager, Gas for Shell Nigeria and a Director of the Shell Petroleum Development Company of Nigeria Ltd (SPDC). Before that, he was Regional Communications Manager for Shell in West Africa and General Manager for Sustainable Development and Community Relations for Shell Nigeria.

Prior to that, he was the Managing Director of Shell Nigeria Gas Ltd and Crisis Chief of Staff for Shell Nigeria.In the course of his nearly 30-year career with Shell, he has held various roles including Integration/Planning Manager, Commercial Manager, and Project Development Manager for Gas & Power, PrivateAssistant to the Chief Executive of Royal Dutch Shell in The Netherlands, Regional (Business) Adviser for Africa- Shell International and Regional Health Manager for Africa overseeing 36 countries. Prior to joining Shell, he worked with the Nigerian National Petroleum Company (NNPC) and National Oil & Chemical Marketing Company Plc (NOLCHEM).

Philip has a degree in Human Medicine (MBBS), a postgraduate qualification in Occupational & Environmental Medicine from the University of Aberdeen, Scotland, and a Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree from the IESE Business School of the University of Navarra, Spain.

DEPUTY MANAGING DIRECTOR
Olakunle A. Osobu has a career spanning over three decades in the oil and gas industry. He is a technology and business visionary, shaping the future of energy through digital innovation.

As Deputy Managing Director of NLNG, Olakunle brings a wealth of experience from his tenure as Chief Technology Officer of NNPC Limited, where he led large-scale digital transformation initiatives. Before that, he held pivotal leadership roles within the NNPC Limited, including General Manager Applications, General Manager Telecoms, and Manager Networks, where he played a key role in advancing IT infrastructure across the energy sector.His expertise extends beyond the public sector. Olakunle has led high-impact teams in global organisations, serving as Country Manager for LMK Resources, a Landmark and Halliburton Company, as well as Landmark Graphics Corporation, where he drove enterprise IT solutions in Nigeria’s energy landscape. His foundation in technology began in 1992 at Tara Systems Nigeria Limited, where he advanced from Operating Systems and Oracle Database Administrator to Unit Head, Systems Integration.

Olakunle’s journey began as a Lecturer at the Federal Institute of Oceanographic and Marine Research. He holds a degree in Zoology from the University of Ibadan and an MBA from the University of East London. He has earned multiple professional certifications from national and international institutions. He is a member of the Nigerian Institute of Policy and Strategic Studies and a Fellow of the Institute of Management Specialists

Joseph Alagoa
Joseph Alagoa
GENERAL MANAGER - TECHNICAL
Joseph Alagoa is an engineer with over 26 years of experience in the oil and gas industry. He has built a reputation for driving operational efficiency, optimising assets, and strengthening business processes. His expertise extends across plant operations, process technology, planning, asset management, procurement, security, logistics, IT, and estate services.

He began his career at the National Fertilizer Company of Nigeria and worked for about two years before moving to NLNG in 1998. In his first role at NLNG, Joseph worked in plant operations, with a focus on commissioning and start-up activities for Trains 1 and 2. His deep technical knowledge led him to a secondment in 2001, where he contributed as a Process Engineer on the Trains 4 and 5 Front End Development team alongside MW Kellogg. Over the years, he progressed through various leadership roles, refining operational strategies and ensuring plant efficiency on Bonny Island.

His international experience includes a secondment to Woodside Energy Limited in Australia, where he worked at the Karratha Gas Plant, a five-train LNG facility. There, he served as an Optimisation Engineer and later as Operations Superintendent, overseeing critical LNG production assets. Returning to NLNG, he continued to take on influential roles, from leading the Liquefaction Plant as Head of Operations to managing process safety integration, value chain optimisation, and asset assurance in various management positions.

In 2019, Joseph was appointed General Manager, Corporate Services Division at NLNG, where he oversaw key business functions, including IT, logistics, corporate security, and estate services. He was later appointed General Manager, Technical, in 2025.

Joseph earned his Bachelor’s degree in Chemical/Petro-Chemical Engineering from Rivers State University of Science and Technology and is a member of the Nigerian Society of Engineers.

GENERAL MANAGER - CORPORATE SERVICES
Ekeinde Ohiwerei ensures that NLNG’s infrastructure, technology, and business operations remain efficient and future-ready as General Manager, Corporate Services at NLNG.

Ekeinde’s career spans across Nigeria and Europe, and he has worked in roles that included supply chain, local content development, maintenance, and engineering. He is a major driver of NLNG’s digital transformation agenda and has initiated programs that position the company for a data-driven future.

Ekeinde is an alumnus of King’s College, Lagos, the University of Ibadan, Loughborough University, Imperial College London, and INSEAD. He is also a member of the Nigerian Society of Engineers, the Council for the Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria (COREN), the Institute of Mechanical Engineering UK, the Institute of Directors, and the Chartered Institute of Procurement and Supply.
Nnamdi Anowi

GENERAL MANAGER - PRODUCTION
Nnamdi Anowi is the General Manager, Production. He graduated with a Bachelor's Degree in Chemical Engineering from the University of Benin and has a Masters Degree in Petroleum Technology from the Curtin University of Technology Australia.

Nnamdi’s career cuts across upstream and integrated gas sectors, where he has led engineering, operations support, production system optimisation, and integrity management initiatives across onshore, offshore, deepwater, and midstream projects. His journey includes pivotal roles at Royal Dutch Shell and NLNG, shaping large-scale energy projects and driving sustainable growth.

Before joining NLNG in 2019 as Production Asset Manager – Common Facilities, Nnamdi served as Engineering Manager Nigeria (& TA1 for Process Engineering) at Shell, leading critical engineering and process safety improvements. He briefly returned to Shell in 2023 to support Integrated Gas Projects before stepping into his current role as GM Production at NLNG.

Nnamdi is a  Chartered Engineer and Fellow of IChemE who is committed to mentoring future engineers and fostering innovation in the energy industry. He is also a member of the Nigerian Society of Engineers and an active volunteer assessor at IChemE.
Akachukwu Adeyinka Nwokedi
GENERAL COUNSEL AND COMPANY SECRETARY
Akachukwu Adeyinka Nwokedi brings over 25 years of legal expertise and strategic leadership to his role as General Counsel and Company Secretary of NLNG.

Aka’s journey at NLNG began in 1999 as Legal Counsel, Technical & Projects, where he played a crucial role in securing Gas Supply Agreements (GSAs) for Trains 3, 4, and 5, as well as structuring financing agreements for the NLNGPlus Project. As Senior Counsel, he provided legal support for NLNG and Bonny Gas Transport Limited (BGT), shaping critical commercial and operational strategies. His impact extended to global sales and purchase agreements, including those with TotalEnergies and Iberdrola, and contributed to NLNG’s 2005 shipping strategy.

Beyond legal advisory, Aka has successfully transitioned into business leadership, serving as the pioneer Human Resources Manager for Career Development and Talent Management, followed by his role as Human Resources and Services Manager for NLNG’s Production Division. His leadership as Managing Director and CEO of NLNG Ship Management Limited (NSML) was transformative—turning the company from a loss-making entity into a profitable and high-performing subsidiary within the NLNG group.

Aka’s leadership extends to major organisational projects, including the Fit for 8 effectiveness initiative and the successful relocation of NLNG’s headquarters across Lagos, Port Harcourt, Abuja, and Bonny—all executed within budget, on schedule, and with zero safety incidents.

He holds a first degree and a master’s degree in law from the University of Buckingham, United Kingdom, and is an alumnus of INSEAD. A dedicated mentor and coach, he is also actively shaping Nigeria’s energy landscape as the President of the Nigeria Gas Association (NGA), having previously served as its Secretary General.

GENERAL MANAGER - FINANCE
Fatima U. Adanan is the General Manager, Finance for NLNG. She is an accountant with about 25 years of experience in the oil and gas industry. She has an accounting B.Sc. in accounting from Ahmadu Bello University and an M.Sc. in Financial Management from Robert Gordon University in Aberdeen, United Kingdom. She is a fellow of the Institute of Public Administration of Nigeria, a member of the National Association of Accountants of Nigeria, and a SAP Certified Finance Consultant.

Her career started in 1997 when she joined Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC, now Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited) as the Accountant, Banking and Cash Management, Treasury Group. She also worked in the Documentary Credit Section and the Cash Office and took on supervisory roles in Taxes, Invoicing, and Inventory between 2001 and 2017. After that, she was appointed Deputy Manager, LNG/Loan Origination, Monitoring, and Accounting. In 2020, she became the Acting Manager of LNG/ Midstream Finance and was appointed in full capacity in the same role in 2021.

In her roles at NNPC, Fatima facilitated the signing of the NLNG Framework Agreement which secured the financing of up to US$2.5 billion to fund the NNPC CAPEX requirements of Upstream Gas Projects contracted to sell feed gas to NLNG, based on Gas Sales Agreements (GSAs). She was also a core member of the financing team that secured a $3 billion loan for NLNG’s Train 7 project, a major milestone in Nigeria’s LNG expansion. She was deeply involved in financing initiatives for the Ajaokuta-Abuja-Kaduna-Kano (AKK) Pipeline Project, NNPC Refineries Rehabilitation, and other gas infrastructure projects totaling $15.2 billion before her secondment to NLNG.

Fatima continues to shape the financial strategy at NLNG, ensuring sustainable growth and efficient capital management in an evolving energy landscape.

GENERAL MANAGER - EXT. RELATIONS & SUSTAINABLE DEV.
Sophia Horsfall is the General Manager, External Relations and Sustainable Development at NLNG. Sophia holds a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) from the College of Medicine, University of Lagos, an MBA from Imperial College, London, a Diploma in Strategy and Innovation, and an MSc in Major Program Management from the University of Oxford. She is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Accountants of Nigeria (FCA) and an Associate Member of the Chartered Institute of Personnel Management (AMCIPM), the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (AMNIPR), and the Institute of Directors Nigeria (IOD).

With over 25 years of experience in the oil and gas industry, Sophia brings extensive work experience and expertise in Finance, Human Resources, and Corporate Relations. She has covered several leadership roles in NLNG. It is on record that she was the first-ever HR Manager, Business Partnering, and the first-ever Chief of Staff for the Crisis Management Team—COVID-19. She started her managerial role as Manager, Manpower Planning and Resourcing. She was the Manager of Corporate Communication and Public Affairs (ERP) prior to her latest appointment.

Sophia is passionate about corporate transformation and people development. She draws inspiration from her varied work experiences in different parts of the world, including Australia and the United Kingdom. She has also attended several management programmes, including those at Lagos Business School, INSEAD, the University of Cambridge, and SDA Bocconi.

GENERAL MANAGER - COMMERCIAL
Engr. Timothy Bibowei Fakrogha is the General Manager, Commercial. He is a seasoned oil and gas professional with over 27 years of extensive experience across the energy value chain. His expertise spans Contracts and Procurement, Category Management, Internal Audit, LNG Commercial and Marketing, Gas and LNG Negotiation, Offshore Drilling, Project Management, and Shipping.

He has built a distinguished career in both multicultural and international business environments, consistently delivering value through strategic leadership and cross-functional collaboration. Engr. Fakrogha has worked with senior leadership and external stakeholders to advance key projects and commercial outcomes across the industry.

He holds a Bachelor of Science (Tech) degree in Marine Engineering from Rivers State University of Science and Technology. He also earned dual Master of Business Administration (MBA) degrees in Marine Engineering Technology and in Finance and Change Management from ESLSCA Business School in Paris, France.

A member of several esteemed professional bodies, Engr. Fakrogha is affiliated with the Chartered Institute of Purchasing and Supply (CIPS), Global Association of Risk Professionals (GARP), Chartered Management Institute (CMI), Institute of Internal Auditors (Nigeria), Nigerian Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (NiCArb), Association of International Energy Negotiators (AIEN), Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE), the Council for the Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria (COREN), and the Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE).

Bamitale O. Erinle has been at the helm of Human Resources as the General Manager, Human Resources at NLNG since August 2023. She has over 30 years of expertise in human capital management, leadership development, and organisational efficiency. A firm believer in operational excellence and people-driven growth, she plays a critical role in shaping NLNG’s talent strategy.

Before joining NLNG, Bamitale served as Executive Director, Business Services at NNPC Trading Limited, where she led strategic initiatives in human capital optimisation, administrative operations, and supply chain management. In this role, she was responsible for safeguarding company assets, implementing workforce policies, and driving business efficiency.

Her career at NNPC and its subsidiaries saw her take on several pivotal roles. As Manager, Human Resources for NNPC Upstream Investment Management Services (NUIMS) from 2016, she spearheaded key HR initiatives across the organisation. Before that, she held leadership positions at National Petroleum Investment Management Services (NAPIMS), where she oversaw career development, performance management, manpower planning, and employee welfare.

Bamitale’s early career began at Kaduna Refining and Petrochemical Company in 1992 as a Training Officer. She later transitioned to pension administration, human resources, and administrative services, steadily rising through the ranks and making a significant impact in workforce development and industrial relations.

She holds a bachelor’s degree in English and Literary Studies, a Diploma in Computer Studies, and is an affiliate of the Nigerian Institute of Management (NIM), the Chartered Institute of Personnel Management (CIPM), and the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM).
