Train 2 started up Successfully
Twenty-five days after it was shut down for programmed routine baseline inspection and maintenance, work on Nigeria LNG’s Train 2 has been completed and the Train has been re-started successfully.
The closure period lasted from the 5th October 2000 to the 29th of October 2000. It would be recalled that the company had announced the scheduled closure of the train late last month.
As a result of the successful completion of the maintenance and commencement of production on the train, Liquefied Natural Gas was run down into the storage tank on the same day.
This means that the Train has started producing again at the design capacity of 8,900 tonnes of LNG per day.
The programmed shut down, was the first since production commenced at the plant in September 1999 and it was an opportunity to learn valuable lessons that will be incorporated into the planned shut down of Train 1, due in April 2001.
The programmed shut down of Train 2 did not in anyway impact on LNG delivery schedule to our long term and spot customers. During the month of October five LNG cargoes were delivered to long term buyers in Europe, while one spot cargo was delivered to the United States of America.
