Alleged Disruption of NLNG Operations

Attention of Nigeria LNG Management has been drawn to recent reports carried in the press of purported disruption of NLNG gas pipeline operations by youths in Bayelsa State. These reports allege that the youths had embarked on this action to protest the alleged neglect of their communities by the NLNG whose pipelines they claim, run through the area. This, it is further alleged, is in contrast to other NLNG pipeline communities where the company provides community development projects.

Management of Nigeria LNG wishes to state that the company has no pipeline running through any community in Bayelsa state. The pipelines that convey gas to the plant in Bonny are all situated in communities spread across nine Local Government Areas in Rivers State. In all of these areas, NLNG strives to maintain constructive dialogue leading to a healthy partnership. The result of this is the peaceful and conducive atmosphere that has facilitated our smooth operations.

We hereby state that the Nigeria LNG Plant and its facilities are in operation, and we remain thankful to our host communities for ensuring a favorable environment for our operations.
